Look, it’s a happy Sadness cake that @fionawritesbooks made for the Picture Book Club in @waterstonesreading!
Thanks for all those who attended. It was lovely meeting you all, and a special thanks to Fiona for organising it and making this sweet Sadness cake.
Among other things, we talked a bit about how I worked on this book before I started developing it further with @andersenpress to the picture book ‘When Sadness Comes to Call’ it became, and how my own understanding of dealing with emotions like sadness evolved along the way. I’ve learned so much from working on this book and I keep learning from it through the conversations I’m having with people. It’s quite a wonderful thing and has been a special journey so far.

Of course I had to see my own book in the bookshop for myself and what a lovely thing to find it prominently displayed in both book shops where I live, @childrenheffers and @waterstonescambridge. If you love books and buy them, buy them in an actual bookshop whenever you can! They are the most wonderful places in the world (in my opinion), and there is nothing like accidentally stumbling upon the perfect book that you didn’t realise you needed in your life until you found it. #ilovebooks and #ilovebookshops
Can you let me know when you spot ‘When Sadness Comes to Call’ in the wild?

Also, you can already find the Dutch, Turkish and Spanish editions, and others will follow soon! I will share the covers of the translations soon as well.
