Libraries

Lovely @sarahturpinillustrator found my book in the library. I love libraries. I have the most fond memories of visiting my local library as a child. I always took as many books as I could on my card. I even pretend played ‘library’ with my friend in my spare time. There have been points in my life where I have questioned why I would keep carrying books from A to B, if I didn’t even manage to read half of them. I also remember calculating as a child how many pieces of my favourite candy I could’ve bought with the fines I accumulated over time. I don’t think as a child I was really aware of how much reading enriched my life - and that actually, growing up without a TV the first 11 years of my life gave me so much more than what I missed out on. I really believed it was important to know your Sesamstreet and whatever else they all watched. #whensadnesscomestocall @andersenpress #evaeland #library #repost @sarahturpinillustrator・・・Well look what I just found in my library @evaeland

I love libraries. I have the fondest memories of visiting my local library as a child. I always took as many books as I could on my card. I even pretend played ‘library’ with my friend in my spare time (I’m old enough now not to care about how uncool that sounds).

I don’t think I was really aware as a child of how much reading enriched my life – and that actually, growing up without a TV the first 11 years of my life gave me so much more than what I missed out on. Though at the time, I really did believe it was important to know your Sesamstreet and whatever else they all watched.

Delft Blue

12 / 100. A very quick sketch inspired by Delft Blue and the pepper and salt set I remember we had when I was a child. I was born and raised in Delft, a small city between Rotterdam and The Hague, with old houses and canals, just like you have in Amsterdam. I remember Japanese tourists asking to take a picture of me and my best friend at the time, on a Delft Blue, mosaic bench surrounded by tulips. I always found it a strange and funny idea to be appearing in someone’s photo album across the world, representing the Dutch. #100dayproject #100daychallenge #100daysofdrawing #delftblue #pepperandsalt #watercolour #aquarel #winsorandnewtonwatercolors
