Bologna Children’s Book Fair

Our Cambridge School of Art stand is all ready for this weeks Children’s Book Fair in Bologna and looking very promising. So much talent being represented! And my Sadness, a user manual is already showcased at the stand from Andersen Press! I’ve just spotted it as we are almost neighbours at the fair. It will be published January 2019 but they are still busy selling the translation rights. The list of co-editions keeps growing! Looking forward to the fair so much, tomorrow is the first day. If I manage I’ll try to post something every day. @csa_bologna @csacbi #cambridgeschoolofart @andersenpress #machildrensbookillustration @bolognachildrensbookfair

Planning my portfolio pages

Planning my portfolio pages for the @bolognachildrensbookfair with help of mini prints of possible pages. It’s difficult to choose images sometimes but there is always room for some cats! The cats on the right are black in reality, my printer likes turning greyscale images brown. #bolognachildrensbookfair #cambridgeschoolofart #catsofinstagram #evaelandillustration #blackandwhiteillustrwtion #catshape #whitecat #blackcat

When two projects meet

When two projects meet. Someone at the exhibition thought that my Story Builder transparencies were supposed to go on top of the prints from my book Sorry and I was happily surprised with how well they match. It was lovely to see people engaging with my work and it’s good to know that children have played with the Story Builder as well, as I had only shown it to adults before the exhibition. I’m going to develop it further the coming year and hopefully will find a way to publish it as well. #evaelandillustration #sorrythebook #storybuilder #risography #flatgold #yellow #imamistake

A little sad

What a wonderful week it has been, full of friends and family visiting and reading as many books as possible from my fellow graduates. I tried to read them all but I’m afraid I didn’t manage. Here my dear mother and sister are in front if my stand reading my books. I feel blessed, to be surrounded by so many friends and family. And a little sad now I’m finally realising this adventure of studying the MA Children’s Book Illustration is really coming to an end. I’ve met so many lovely people - and have been guided by very inspiring tutors as well. I shall miss it all dearly and am at the same time looking forward to the next adventures. And there still is the International Children’s Book Fair in Bologna where I’ll have my work represented at the Cambridge School of Art stand with most other graduates. #machildrensbookillustration #cambridgeschoolofart

Creativity and me

Another project I’ve been working on, about the creative process. Do you ever feel nostalgic about the time in your life where you would just draw, without thinking, as a child? I wonder sometimes what happens when I let her be in charge. Maybe my ideas would be more obedient, like this lot here, and just follow her. Hopefully I’ll manage to have this book ready as well for the degree show next week. Check @csacbi for more details and artwork by my talented fellow students. #creativityandme #creativeprocess #risography #flatgold #characterdesign #picturebookillustration #machildrensbooksillustration #cambridgeschoolofart
